As the economy works to recover from the COVID-19 shutdown, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has issued a temporary waiver which allows employers to skip pre-employment drug testing for certain drivers. Specifically, the waiver extends the period under which drivers qualify for the pre-employment testing exception under 49 CFR 382.301(b) from 30 days to 90 days. The waiver, which went into effect on June 5, ends on September 30, 2020.
