THE REHABILITATION PLAN AFTER SUFFERING A TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY

Most motorcyclists in Nebraska do everything they can to be safe when they ride. However, all the precautions in the world sometimes aren’t enough to protect against negligent and reckless drivers that motorcyclists might be sharing the road with. When a motorcycle accident occurs, riders and any passengers may suffer severe injuries, including traumatic brain injuries – known as “TBIs.”

TBIs can be some of the most severe injuries that any person can suffer, no matter the circumstances. The brain, obviously, is the most important part of a person’s body. If the nerve center is damaged in any way, the ripple effects for the rest of the body can be significant. But, some people who have suffered a TBI, after they have gone through all of the initial surgeries and intensive medical treatments that might be needed in the immediate aftermath of the crash, may be able to participate in a rehabilitation plan to recover some of their ability to function in terms of day-to-day tasks.

Any rehabilitation plan will be usually be unique to the person who suffered a TBI and how that person is impacted. For example, some TBI victims may go through rehabilitative efforts with a physical therapist, who will help the victim with re-learning physical movements, such as walking. Other TBI victims may need to see a speech and language pathologist, who can help victims with their communication skills in the aftermath of suffering a traumatic brain injury.

When Nebraska residents are injured in a motorcycle accident that was caused by another party’s negligence or recklessness, they may have legal options to consider. A personal injury lawsuit may help victims recover financial compensation to help pay for the costs of medical treatment and rehabilitation.
