The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance’s (CVSA) International Roadcheck is June 5-7, 2018. This inspection will include a 37 step procedure that includes the driver operating requirements as well as vehicle mechanical fitness. The inspection will have an emphasis on hours of service, which is the area that most drivers have violations in.

The 37 steps will include: hours of service documentation, motor carrier registration and shipping documentation, checking brake systems, cargo securement, coupling devices, driveline/driveshaft components, frames, fuel systems, lighting devices, steering mechanisms, suspensions, tires, van and open-top trailer bodies, wheels, rims and hubs, and windshield wipers. Buses will include these additional items: emergency exits, electrical cables and systems in the engine and battery compartments, and seating.

If a driver is found NOT to be in violation by the CVSA, a decal will be placed on the vehicle to show that they passed the inspection. But if the driver is found to be in violation by the CVSA inspector they can be rendered out-of-service until the violation(s) have been corrected.
